Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Roberts is from the fourth generation of Roberts family that been a resident of Atlanta. This started with her grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was a farm. Her father was interested in theatre since a young time. When he was a college pupil in Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he participated in many performances. After joining the airforce In 1953, he starred in an air force production in Biloxi with Betty Lou Bredemus. In 1955, the couple married and their child Eric Anthony was born. Walter as well as his spouse were discharged from the military in, when they enrolled Walter in Tulane University. Walter worked with Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the couple relocated into Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou started production in 1964 for the local Saturday morning children's television program Bum Bum and His Buddies, which they funded themselves. In 1964 Betty Lou and Walter founded the Actors and Writers Workshop. The workshop lasted six years. They were joined by Lelisa Billingsley (also called Lisa) as well as Julia (also called Julie) in this time.
