In that same year she dropped her debut album Know It All with the third single Scars to Your Beautiful being one of the five original songs which peaked on the Billboard charts. In an interview that Cara gave with Rap Up, this particular track had lots of meaning for many of the listeners who related to her personal story of accepting and loving your self. Cara is well-known for her ability to incorporate the themes of mental health and love and self-love into her music. The music that she has written is derived from her own struggle to conquer mental health issues as well as insomnia. Reuters stated that she calls her album "half tumultuous, half perfected". People have told her that she discovered her development during therapy. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto in Canada. She was born July 11th, 1996 to parents with Italian descent. Alessia Cara's parents gave her their first guitar when she was 10. That was her first step with music. She began covering her favourite songs at age 13 to prove to that world that she had the skills and the determination required to be an artist. One of her covers, Sweater Weather, was the one that got her attention. EP Entertainment gave her the opportunity to create and compose her own music.
